Thousands of organizations and individuals have filed interests to conduct drone experiments to aid in deliveries, security, and advanced operations. Just last week the FAA has approved 2500 applications across the country and has given the green light for the experiments to commence. These 2500 applicants will have to work quickly to name their team members as the roster deadline is January 4th 2018. The organizations and individuals approved will have the ability to try out various operating modes that are typically off limit for drones, and allow for beyond line of sight flying.
One of the biggest names that made this list was Boeing Horizon X, which is the aerospace company's venture capital branch. However, Amazon was not on the list of applicants, but are apparently still in the works of facility based experiments in the U.A.S./U.A.V. world. With these application approvals, the possibilities for the incorporation of drone uses in every day life has increased tremendously, and will open the doors for growth and opportunity.
